Thing Three

I set up my Google Reader when I got my Coe Email - but I never looked at it again.  I have set up a fresh e-mail, and a fresh reader... We will see how it goes this time.  I guess I can see how this would be a benefit to professionals that need to stay in the know all the time, or who follow stuff like this, but I am not sure I need it.  So far, it just feels like something else that I need to remember to check.  I like having everything right in one place and how the reader considers something read if I scroll past it.  Very convenient.

I am following my classmates, who seem far more on top of this stuff than I am.  I am following breaking news on the Gazette - 'cause that's the news that really matters to me.  I am following the the home page of the New York Times - 'cause that's my exposure to the wider world news.  I'm following The Verge - 'cause I liked the variety of their stories.  And, I am following Stewart Memorial Library's blog - 'cause our library and it's employees are awesome.

I have never been a comment-er and I have seen a lot of online conversations through commenting that were absolutely inane.  I will try to leave comments on my classmates posts, it's fun to know that people are reading your stuff and thinking about it.

  1. I too can see why professionals would find Google Reader useful, but at this point, it only seems like a way to save time by visiting one website with all of the news you're looking for as opposed to four or five. Maybe as I further explore the capacity of Google Reader, I'll find more and more uses for it.

I like your layout by the way!
